Sunshine Ridge Guest House Is A New Option
for Visitors to Roaring Fork Valley
July 20, 2006 - Glenwood Springs, CO...When
Maryland residents Andrew and Shirl Niemeyer visited Glenwood
Springs last year, they were completely enamored with this mountain
mecca and decided to look for a property of their own. After
spending only 45 minutes in a secluded log home for sale along
Four Mile Road, 10 miles south of Glenwood Springs, they purchased
it on the spot. They transformed this rustic mountain retreat
into a guest house that is now available for rent to vacationers
coming to the Glenwood Springs-Aspen area.
"It was challenging to oversee such
an extensive remodel when we live 1800 miles away.", says
homeowner Andy Niemeyer. "We were so lucky to find fabulous
caretakers locally who managed the entire project."
Featured in Log Home Design Ideas magazine,
this luxurious getaway sits high above Four Mile Canyon on 40-acres
overlooking expansive meadows and the Elk Mountain Range within
the White River National Forest. The property is actually part
of a conservation easement protected by the Aspen Valley Land
Trust. The 5,800 square foot wilderness house boasts 6-bedrooms
and 4-1/2 baths, large enough to accommodate up to 16 people
comfortably. A gourmet kitchen is equipped with a six burner
Viking stove, oversized Subzero refrigerator, granite countertops,
and Spanish tile floors. The artfully decorated open area surrounding
the kitchen features cherry flooring, rustic furniture, and
a massive 23-foot fireplace. Two newly remodeled master suites
offer privacy and seclusion. Guests can play games or watch
movies on the big screen television in the centralized recreation
room downstairs complete with a kitchenette. A unique wine cave
houses bottles in refurbished antique hardware bins. The house
has all the modern conveniences including wireless broadband
and high-speed cable internet access.
Outside, the large wrap-around deck, accessed
from the sunken living room and several bedrooms, overlooks
the mountainous landscape. To enjoy dining al fresco, there
is a huge outdoor courtyard patio with a colorful adobe wall
adjacent to the kitchen. Lush landscaping and wildflowers surround
the entire home. Covered, garage parking can easily hold up
to four vehicles and offers plenty of storage for gear and equipment.
Recreational activities abound nearby
including the world's largest hot springs pool, Glenwood Caverns
Adventure Park, whitewater rafting, fly fishing, hiking, biking,
golfing, shopping and dining. Sunlight Mountain Resort ski area
is only 10 minutes away, as well as, world-class skiing at four
Aspen mountains, 40 miles away and Vail is a 50 mile drive.
